Following on from my page with local cape town live wind reports, here are the most useful wind forecast sites available:

WindGuru

Still one of the most reliable sources of wind information around, this site is seldom wrong.
For Cape Town there is a trick to reading the wind though, if it says highs of between 12-18 knots, you can expect that as an average for the time forecast.
If it forecasts above 18, to about 21 then you can safely say that it will average around 20-23 knots. If it is forecast above 22 knots, it can stay around 22-25 OR be well above, up to and including averages of 28-32knots.
I’m not sure if they apply some sort of smoothing algorithm to keep the forecast consistent, but just keep this in mind.
I also use the WAP version above as it makes it easier to view JUST the wind forecast, without the ads and other options on the main site.
There are also tons of other stations, mostly user entered co-ordinates so make sure you are looking at an actual windguru station, not a calculated one that has been added by another user.

Magicseaweed.com

Magic seaweed is great if you want to get all technical and try to predict what swell and wind different weather fronts may bring in, but their wind forecast system is also top notch.
There is a thriving community that gives eyeball reports and photos of the day which gives it that edge over it’s competitors.

Windfinder is reasonably accurate, and tends to follow the same patterns as described for Windguru above.
They also have really good tide graphs for your location, and annual statistics that you can get wind averages for certain periods of the year.
If you really want to keep an eye on what the changing conditions are doing, you may want to check out one of the many cape town webcams for kiteboarding spots that are available.
